A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.

I wanted to post the latest update on my friend Nancy's battle with esophageal cancer.  The quote below is  a portion directly from her Caring Bridge Web Site and was posted today.

Quote
As of yesterday morning, Nancy is cancer free - at least for now! Nancy underwent a Radio Frequency Ablation of the remaining lesion on her liver on Thursday. The procedure, in effect, burned and destroyed the affected area of her liver, killing all cancer cells. And as a coincidence, the procedure came on the one year anniversary of her first cancer surgery.

All of you are so appreciated in your prayers and positive thoughts.  Nancy had reached the point where the chemo treatments were causing her problems and her body could no longer with stand them.  She had become weak, nauseated, low platelet and white blood cell counts had forced them to cancel her last 3 chemo treatments.

The lesion on her liver had been reduced to 1/2 in, so they tried this procedure which is normally used on much larger lesions and in the treatment of colon cancer.

She is still classified as incurable because her esophageal cancer had metastasized in her liver.  But for now there are no signs of cancer!

:yays: :balloon: :yays: :balloon: :yays: :balloon: :yays: :balloon:

Her doctor says she still feels there are microscopic bits lf cancer cells floating around waiting to "rear their ugly heads", but so far they are not visible.  She has no chemo treatments and no doctor appts until Nov 13 when she will undergo a CT scan.

Thanks for your prayers, love and positive thoughts.  I hope you will continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers, but for now life is GOOD!!!! :loveshwr: Love

Good to hear that your friend Nancy is doing so well! She may want to consider some healthy eating to make her body strong so that her own body can kill those little cancer cells before they take hold!

There is lots of literature out there that supports this theory....I'm not sure what's proven and what's not...but healthy clean living will help make her strong and keep cancer at bay! JMO!  Love Love Love Love

Sassy, if you have any suggestions I'll be glad to pass them along.

She feels good except when on chemo and the chemo had started affecting the good cells in her body too much.

Since she has had so much of her esophagus removed, she essentially had the equivelent of gastric bypass, so has lost 90 lbs.  She eats pretty good when she is not on chemo, just can't eat large quantities of food, because her stomach is pulled so tight it is like a long narrow tube instead of nice round and pear shaped.
