A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition.

« on: March 15, 2008, 03:51:04 PM »

Please pray for my friend Nancy!  She was diagnosed last April with esophageal cancer and had chemo, radiation and surgery to remove 6 inches of her esophagus.  She got a clean bill of health and returned to work in January.

During a routine checkup, they discovered her liver enzymes were elevated, did a CT scan and found lesions on her liver.  She got results of a liver biopsy and her cancer has metastasized (sp?) in her liver.  The doc says she is incurable and terminal with maybe a year remaining!  She will start chemo in 2 weeks to try to slow the growth!

My heart is breaking for my good friend, her DH and 2 sons!

I'm late to this, but please know that my prayers and thoughts are added to the others.  And prayers for your strength in dealing with this also.

That is horrible news.....a real shame! I will pray that she has the strength to weather the storm ahead and that she has enough time to settle her affairs and sooth her loved ones as they prepare to take care of her!

Thank you all for your prayers and kind words for Nancy and her family!  She is very strong, both in mind and spirit.  She begins her chemo this Wednesday and will get treatments every 2 weeks.  Nancy works with special needs kids of preschool age and has given her entire life to them and their families.

She is trying to get disability or perhaps early retirement, as she would like to put all her energy into living well with her husband and her 2 boys (I say boys, they are 22 and 25, but our children are always our children, no matter what age).
Nancy and her DH  have planned a trip to Alaska for 2 weeks the end of June and her hope (and mine) is that she will be feeling good still and be able to make good memories for her DH.  This trip was to be a celebratory trip for doing so well in her first battle with cancer.

Please know that every prayer is so appreciated!  Our dear Lord hears our prayers and if healing is not His will then I pray that she will have good days until He takes her home.

Thanks again...you all are so kind and very special women!  :hearts :hearts :hearts

I appreciate your continued support and prayers for my friend, Nancy!

She had a CT scan last week after her 4th round of chemo and the lesion on her liver has shrunk 47% and there are no other signs of cancer in other parts of her body.

For the time being she will continue chemo, if it continues to shrink and the cancer does not metastasize, she could be a potential candidate for surgery to try to remove the lesion from her liver.

Thanks for your continued support, she appreciates all the people who are praying for her, she says she feels a bit like the man in the Verizon commercial, that has a whole network of people behind him!

:gah: I'm so sorry - I'll pray for her and her family - this year seems to be a year filled with miracles, just keep that in mind... with disasters, no matter what the outcome, miracles happen.  Hugs, Erin

:ty:   You are all wonderful, I have told Nancy about all the wonderful people she doesn't even know who are praying for her.

She will get a reprieve from chemo until July 14.  She and her DH, Michael are leaving next Wed (6/25) for a 2 week cruise/trip to Alaska.  This is a dream trip for both of them and they are all excited.  I am excited for both of them.

I just thought I would give you all an update on my friend Nancy.  She and her DH, Mike just returned from their trip to Alaska.

They had a wonderful trip, she felt good, except for indigestion...she said she carried Tums in her fanny pack the whole trip!

One of the excursions they went on was a whale watching excursion, where to their surprise they got to see 6 Orca whales , which usually are not seen in the area.

Today she goes back to her chemo treatments, so we are hoping that she doesn't have any ill effects after going without chemo for 4 weeks to make sure she felt good for the trip!
