My niece was born Sunday 9wks premature.  She is only 3lbs 4oz.  She is stable now and in the NICU of a local hospital.  There's just so much that we don't know.  This baby has been wanted so very much by my brother and my SIL. They have been trying to have a baby for years and we were all ecstatic that she was finally pregnant.  It took so many treatments and finally invitro to conceive.

Please keep them all in your prayers.  This has been a tremendously stressful time for all of us but especially for my brother and SIL.  It has been an emotional rollercoaster the last 2wks and it seems so sad that we all can't be celebrating right now that little E is here.  My SIL was finally released from the hospital last night and so that's one hurdle that we have overcome.  Now if E can just get bigger and stronger.  She needs to be breathing on her own and be able to eat without the feeding tubes before she can come home and be able to maintain her own body heat.  Poor baby girl has so many tubes and wires coming out of her. crying

Thank you all!

Honey, my nephew was born 2 years ago on May 3 9 weeks premature as well.  My SIL and BIL tried for 10 years to get pregnant and finally little Elias (another little E!!) was conceived. Those wires and tubes sure are scary but they are necessity to keep her alive and get her OUT of the NICU.  My nephew has some residual problems but that doesn't necessarily mean that your niece will.  You should still be celebrating because your brother and SIL WERE able to conceive and brought a precious new life into this world.  I will keep her in my prayers and PLEASE let us know how she is doing.

I'll keep them in my prayers. Don't fret, the little ones are the strongest.

I will pray for her but have confidance she will be just fine. My niece & nephew twins were born 9 and 1/2 weeks early. They were each just over 3 lbs at birth. It was heart wrenching at the time because I had just delivered a 9.2lb baby 4 months prior and thought the worst of course. I SO misjudged those tiny fighters! The twins gained strength quickly and were able to come home just 3 weeks later! They were on apnea monitors for about 6 months but that was it. They are now 22+ lbs, happy, healthy, perfect little toddlers who will be 2 in September. Our little miracles are far stronger than we give them credit for. Have faith! I do!!!

Keep the faith Pink Ponies.  My great niece came into the world at 3 lbs. 2 oz.  Eleven years ago. smiley  Yes, all those tubes are scary, but so necessary.  She was born at the end of March and her little Easter dress while she still in the hospital was made from a 10" doll pattern.  Amazing how very strong they are and they definitely feel the pull of the love and caring all around them.  Her only real issues so far have been dental problems.  She's healthy as can be, a great student and an all-around sweetheart.

Thank you so much for the prayers ladies!!!  I'm so grateful for you all and that to know that there are so many prayers for Little E's health.   bighug

Little E has been doing so good!  She is off the oxygen tubes most of the time and has been feeding too!  I think she is up to 15ml!!!!  She obviously needs to get bigger and stronger but I feel like we are climbing out of those scary woods.  It's amazing what a week can do!

And thank you too for the positive stories of the little ones that you know that have survived and grown up to be healthy children.  It just means so much and gave me hope when I was down clap

Please keep her in your prayers though smiley

Pink-ponies - OMG! I'm sorry I found this post late! Of course I'll pray for your little niece! My goddaughter Lily was born early as well (so many of these PL ladies prayed for her as well), and she is doing great now.  She is now 5 months old and is a little chubba! I am completely confident that your little E will be in the same boat in a few months!   smiley

Velocity is right.  When God hears that the Pink Lighthouse prayer warriors are a-callin', He sits down and takes notes!   giggle

Seriously, I am very happy to hear that Little E is doing well.  Prayers for her will continue!

Velocity -- it's great to hear that Lily is doing so well!!

Yes!  She is 3lbs 12oz now :stars: She has been moved to Neonatal Intermediate Care and out of the NICU.  That is a great step.  That means she is not in such a precarious spot anymore but not healthy enough to be in the normal nursery.

She has started 'nippling' which means that she has started to feed out of the bottle for 2 feedings a day  :chrldr2:  This is a huge step in her coming home.  Because once she can feed on her own and maintain her own body heat, she can go home :jmp4joy:

Thank you so much for the continued prayers :loveshwr:  You guys are awesome!  I will let you know how she is doing soon.
