My 14-year-old daughter was walking to school this morning. She came upon a group of high school boys whom she never noticed before. She crossed the street because she felt uncomfortable. As she approached the area where they were, she noticed the boys were goofing off, heard a loud "bang", and saw something flying through the air towards her. Before she knew it, something flew into her eye. She walked as quickly as she could to school, went to the nurse, and I got a phone call. We are all assuming that it was a cigarette lighter that they were messing around with.
I took her to the pediatrician and then to a pediatric ophthalmologist. She has a long and deep laceration on her cornea. Luckily no fluid was leaking from inside her eye so the ophthalmologist prescribed antibiotic drops and she is to wear sunglasses for several days until the cornea heals. There "shouldn't be" any residual damage to her vision.
She is very lucky that her injury wasn't worse. I have no idea who these boys were--not that I could do a darn thing about it anyway. But it just makes me angry that kids act so stupid these days without any regard to their actions.
If you could say a short prayer of healing for Meaghan, that would be wonderful. Thank you!!!

Kathy, You know I'm there praying for you and your daughter. Thank goodness it wasn't any worse.
It seems to me those boys could be charged criminally for this. The school at least needs to dicipline them.

Thank you ladies SO MUCH for your prayers. I kept her home today from school because she's still in a lot of pain...and her vision is still blurry. I'm praying that is only temporary due to the trauma. Unfortunately, she has NO idea who the boys were. She thinks they were high school boys and without being able to ID them, I don't know how they could be charged. It just feels like someone should be held accountable for this. Grrrr..... I'll keep you posted on her progress. And again......

Hey ladies -- would you mind kicking your prayers up a notch? It's Day 4 post-accident and her vision is still blurry and now she has seepage coming from her eye. I'm taking her back to the specialist tomorrow morning.

My daughter is feeling a little bit better this morning. The new swelling has gone down somewhat and the signs of infection are gone. Her eyesight is still not back in that eye, but the doctor did say it could take several days due to the trauma.
Thank you sooooooo much for your prayers!!
