Hi all
I finally called my director and told her the dreaded news that I wouldn't be selling anymore and she asked what I was going to do with the inventory. I had I told her about discounting it and putting up fliers and such. She asked if there were any other ways. I stupidly mentioned possibly selling on craigslist. She flipped and said if she found out I was doing that she would pesonally turn me in. I backtracked and said I'm only trying to sell the section 2 items there, but that's not true.
What can she do to me? What can the company do? It's my stuff, right? I bought it and can do with it what I wish, right? Or am I totally off base here?
Thanks for all your help, B

If you send back inventory to MKC then you are terminated and no longer a consultant. As long as you aren't a consultant, you can sell the products on eBay or craigslist, or here.
The IBC Agreement prohibits you from selling products anywhere but on the official MK website, as long as you are a consultant.
Please, anyone else with more info, chime in!

Well, if you have decided you don't want to be a Consultant anymore, you can do whatever you want with that inventory. If you sell it via Craigslist, they would have to track you down via phone number or email. MK Corp is not going to do this. And if they did, then what? Is someone from Corp going to show up at your door and fine you or give you a Pink Ticket? They could send you a letter, but so what? You have already, in effect, terminated your own contract. What are they going to do to you if they found out you were in violation of your Beauty Consultant Agreement? Terminate you? You're already doing it to yourself. Who cares. Do what you want and ignore your Director. She's just trying to scare you.

Oh, I forgot to add something - shame on HER for behaving this way! How unprofessional! But, bad director behavior is not an isolated incident (as some current directors would lead you to believe...) When I told my former director that I was thinking of sending my inventory back if I couldn't get rid of a lot of it fast, she actually suggested ebay and followed it with a, "but you didn't hear that from me..."

I know we have already answered this before, but can't you just request to be relieved of your contract with MK instead of having to wait a year or sending stuff back?

Thank you all! I was kindof flipping out only because of the seriousness in her voice. The way she said it was as if she was going to turn me in for selling drugs!
So I appreciate the help in easing my mind. I really do agree that it is my inventoy and I should be able to do with it what I wish. If they find out I sold some of it on craigslist, would I still be able to send back any of it? Or if I did as WWIT said and had them terminate the contract would I be able to return any that I couldn't sell? That would be my only heasitation, because if I can't sell it, I'll HAVE to send it back.
Thanks!!

branmuffin...
If you are eligible to send back inventory for the 90% buyback from the Company, BY ALL MEANS, do that now!
Do NOT waste your time trying to sell it on craigslist or elsewhere because you won't get squat for it.
Send it back.

Branmuffin, If you are caught violating the MK IBC contract by selling anywhere but on the MK site, via phone/brochure, or face-to-face, and *if* they do anything about it, you could lose the opportunity to return items to MK for a guaranteed amount. On Craigslist/ebay/etc. you can ask a full 50% off retail and see what comes in, but there will be "leftovers", and you don't want to risk being stuck with it. I have something I'd love to say to your SD if I were you: "Thanks for the advice. Since you set me straight about MK's policy for not allowing us to advertise darn near anywhere, including Craigslist, I'm just going to send it all back to MK Repurchase Dept. I'm so glad you were there to steer me in the right direction." You would think that since you bought the stuff it's yours to do as you please with now. The consultant agreement you signed when you joined has alot of fine print attached and they do state that you'll be terminated if they find you advertising it on other sites, etc. The ONLY places MK legally allows a consultant to advertise are through them. If you do decide to advertise anywhere you may consider setting up a new email address for it so that if your SD sees it she won't know it's you. Something non-descript that doesn't elude to your location/age/sex/etc. If you have 2 phone numbers (cell & landline) and your SD only knows 1, use the other in any ads, or just have people email back then give them your # individually rather than posting it all over the place. You don't want to lose your MK buy-back thingie. That's the one good "opportunity" you have left in MK, IMO.

Oh ya, and ask your SD if she'd like to buy any of it first! At your cost of course. HA! Now if that actually happens you HAVE to come tell us because that would be a hoot. I'm just a tad bit sickened by the practices of most SD's, if you couldn't tell.

I know I am repeating what everyone else is saying, but send back what you can to MKC so you can get your 90% and THEN do the craigs list/ebay thing.

I agree, PPA! Branmuffin, first find out how much you are eligible to return, then select those items that have been disocntinued or you think you won't be able to sell and return those first. Then work on getting rid of the rest of your inventory however you want to! You won't be in danger of losing your 90% buy back option and you won't be under contract, therefore you can sell the rest of it however and to whomever you please! Don't waste time, the amount you are eligible to return can change in a matter of days, depending on when your last order was placed! Good luck, and I hope you stick around, there is a lot to be learned and a lot of wonderful women who have been where you are and survived the MK experience! When you are free of MK, you'll find lots of help healing and people you want to get to know better and they aren't just interested in you because they can earn a commission from you! You will LOVE it here! Good luck!

HI everyone!
I went on vacation for a few days and didn't get a chance to reply. Thanks for all your help. I am going to send it all back. It's all less than 4 months old and the replies I'm getting elsewhere are ridiculous. My best bet will be to send it back.
I have a question about the free items I got with the inventory. Should I keep them or send them back (it was stuff lie a miracle set, satin hands set, 2 roll up bags, etc). I had read somewhere that they are going to tax me or something for them. will I also get charged for them too?
Thanks, B

You already paid taxes on those free items, so if you return them I am fairly certain you would only get the tax money back.
BUT - they accept back a $ based on the total dollar amount of what you purchased, so if you SOLD a little bit, then you should be able to send back the free section 1 stuff and get your money back.
The roll up bags are section 2, if you send them back, you get no refund. You can sell those on ebay, or here, or keep them. Or throw them in the trash!
Glad to see you feeling better about your situation. Let us know what we can do for you!
