Hi,
I am new here. I just got told about this site and I have been exploring around. My problem is I joined last Sept and I have been wanting to sell back my inventory about two weeks after I got it. I am inactive now - no money after buying such a large amount of inventory. I see how a lot of people have had trouble figuring out how much their check will be. I bought $3500 of inventory and that means I had lots of the free products. I am concerned how much I will get back. I haven't sold much and I have used quite a bit of my inventory. I am also wondering about the rolling 12 months. I saw someone said it means any Mary Kay products you have. Does that include things you product replaced through the 100% gurantee? Is there anyone that has returned their product that some advice for me?  :ty: Thank you for any of your help.

I have another question. My director and recruitor told me to put my label on every product of mine. Do I have to take the labels off before I ship my products back?

Thanks

angelove1705, you shouldn't have to remove your labels from the product.
They will deduct your free product from your return amount.  If you still have the product just return it with everything else.  You didn't pay for it, so when they deduct for it you won't be losing anything!

Congratulations for returning your product so you can at least get some of your money back!

:hello: again!  No, you don't have to remove labels.  You don't even have to have the boxes for them.  If they tell you you're eligible to return $1,000, for example, I'd fill that box with the full $1,000 worth of product.

I returned my products and I had a tough time w/ the repurchase dept.  They got all the quantities and prices wrong on the first printout they sent.  As soon as they recieve your shipment, you can request a printout of their breakdown of all your products (how many, valued at what price, etc.).  Mine was so screwed up - they had all sorts of crazy stuff wrong.  They put that I had returned 27.00087 eyeliners or something.  How do you return .00087 of an eyeliner?  They had prices wrong too.  So you really have to double check them, in my experience anyhow.  I've read many other stories where it wasn't much of a hassle at all.  Keep a copy of your own return list and put a copy inside every box you return.  If there's more than 1 box write "Box 1 of (however many total), Box 2 of (total), etc." on the outside.  Ship it via ground and put DC on it.  As long as it's postmarked by the date they give you then you're safe.  Keep that PO receipt too.  I'm sure there's tons of other great advice under the returning inventory section here.  I just kept what I thought I would use, but have found better brands since.
I still sell MK to my mom and a few friends that still want it, but I get it HERE from overloaded consultants who for one reason or another can't send it back.  I pass along the wholesale discount to them and they pick it up.  I tell them if they want to see new products to go to the main MK site.  No need to pay $50/yr. for a duplicate with your name at the top.
Anyhow, welcome!  Hope you find the info you're seeking.

PS... once you're done going through your section 1 if you decide to return it, you can list your section 2 for sale on the inventory trading board.

Thanks so much for the advice. Now another question, what about items that I product replaced for myself and others - do I return those things as well?

Sure, return them as well as long as you don't go over the amount that MK gave you.  If you go over they won't pay you and they won'treturn the overage to you!

Ok now I have another question around the same lines. Once I get my amount, if I have more then I can return - what's left is mine to do what I want right? When they give me my total I can send back, do you have to send it back certified or anything like that? Does anyone know of an average of how much it costs to ship product back?

The pink form that MK is sending you (you requested the repurchase form when you called, right?) has instructions.  Do not put any type of mail service on it that would require MK to have to sign for it or pick it up from the PO.  I read instructions about this somewhere - I think it was on the back of that pink return form, but I'm not sure.  I just mailed mine Parcel Post and used DC.  There might be some other type of mail service you can put on it.  Anyone?

Also, yes, if you have more $$ worth of product than the $$ amount you're allowed to return, you can keep whatever products you choose in the amount that goes over the return amount.  Also, you don't have to meet the return amount, that's just the limit you can return up to.  BUT, I would not try to sell the extra online or whatever until you have cashed your check from MK.  Another consultant here was just turned in to MK by her Sales Director for advertising on Craigslist.  Wait until you've got the $$ in your account, and you're officially terminated.  Then you are no longer bound by their stupid rules.

Thank you all. I did request the form and I am so excited to get it. I have started getting boxes ready. My husband even helped - he wants it gone too. Now I have another question, for those of you who have already mailed your inventory back - did you find it better to send lots of boxes with lite weight or few boxes with heavy weight? Thanks.

This may sound like a silly question, but what kind of boxes are you using?  Does it matter?  I have some boxes from the liquor store (I am moving soon).....can I use those to ship it back, or do they have to be plain boxes?

Also there's some stuff on the pink form that are not on the form here.  It says to sign it....do we need to sign the one we send from here.  It is much easier to use the one here than the pink form, and I just want to do it right.

One more thing.  Does anyone know if they will take back the platinum compacts?  I don't even want to send it back if they will jus keep it.

Thanks!!!

Branmuffin & angellove, before you get too far, you will have to know the value of what is in each box for insurances purposes.  They need to know the value of EACH box, not the total shipment.

I marked each box Example: 1 of 4 , 2 of 4, etc.  I put a copy of the entire return sheet in each box and just marked which items were in that box.  I don't know that you have to do that, but I wasn't taking any chances.

I had everything ready to go when I got the pink form from MK, so I just filled out the top of the form, signed it and in the body where you were supposed to list your inventory, I wrote "See attached" and attached a copy of the return form from here.

Be sure to get Delivery Confirmation also.  I shipped mine UPS and tracked it daily so I knew which day it arrived, but you can do that with other shipping services also.

Hope this post makes sense.

I did my return last summer and agree w/ Lipstick about making packing slips for what's in each box (a complete list of inventory just for that box, and the total $$ amount in each box) as well as the whole lot.  USPS does allow you to ship in boxes that already have words/markings on them, but NOT boxes marked w/ flammable, alcoholic, or other (I forgot the rest - see their site for more info) certain substances.  So, no, you wouldn't make it far trying to use liquor boxes.  You could wrap them in heavy-duty brown shipping paper to cover it.  I've seen people at the post office mail stuff in Huggies boxes, so they do allow writing as long as the mailing info is clearly defined and not "lost" among all the other wording.

Angellove, I debated that question myself too - lots of flat-rate priority boxes, or just a couple massive ones?  Because I had so much MK junk to return, it would have taken so many small priority boxes that it was going to add up to over $100 to mail it that way.  Also, just for the purpose of nothing getting lost in the mail or arriving to MK on separate days and causing confusion, I decided to just use fewer but very large boxes.  I paid about $60 to mail those large boxes (now I can't rember how many there were - 2, or 4?).  The ones I used were about the size of the big pink boxes your starter kit comes in.  They were really heavy.  USPS charges by volume and not just by weight though.  I packed them as tightly as possible and I left most products in their boxes to make it all fit in there tightly.  Because they were packed so tight I didn't use any padding or packing material - I figured that's what the boxes were for.  If I had to do my return over again, I'd take everything out of the boxes too and just not care what happened to it all in shipping, since MK says they're just going to incinerate it all anyhow.

Bran, about the compacts and any other discontinued items: yes they will refund you for those.  Under this repurchase agreement discontinued items qualify too.  I know there's probably some confusion about those since MK made their oh-so-generous offer to take them all back (you pay shipping) and they'll like, hug a tree or something.  I don't know what their offer really was, but it was something ridiculous and gave the consultant nothing in return but warm pink fuzzies, awwww.

Hope that helps!
