there's more than one now? LOL

My friend was in Creative memories - it's a scam just like MK. There is incredible pressure to buy, buy, buy, in order for people to move up the pyramid.

the problem with scrapbooking is that the supplies are more expensive (and not any better) than what you can buy at Micheal's, and their products aren't even that cute. (IMO)  My friend said that her upline was high-pressure, and kept putting guilt trips on her for not ordering more, because her recruiter "had a goal to walk across the stage at (conference, seminar, whatever)".
My friend just couldn't justify any more big purchases because she couldn't sell all the stuff in her "starter order", so she refused to order more - and was supposedly the "reason" that her recruiter didn't get to walk across the stage. So the pressure and nasty guilt trips are the same as Mary Kay.

You can probably get CM on Ebay, and no doubt you can find way cuter scrapbooking supplies at Micheal's.

Close to my heart--I like their scrapbook kits--pretty overpriced--and customers have to buy the catalog?  CM--I personally love cm, and when I checked ebay last year, the prices weren't that much better.  My CM consultant never seems too thrilled with life--I hope she gets out of the whole mlm thing soon!

My mother loves to scrapbook. The woman she buys her supplies from has been in CM for ...I am thinking since I was in college so at least since 1996. She makes huge bucks at it, but still works as a peds critical care nurse. This leads me to believe she makes "good" money but not enough to leave her primary source of income.
I will say she organizes a weekend womens camping/scrap booking party at a cabin she bought. My mother said she bought it with the money she makes from CM. Usually something like 20 of her best customers go. They cook together, drink wine and scrapbook all weekend. My mother looks forward to it every year. They pay a flat rate and the CM lady provides the food/supplies for the weekend.

I think CM might have been a good thing when scrapbooking first became a "big thing" and that was the only place you could get the stuff, but now you can buy cuter stuff at Target and Michael's.   All the scrapbooking stores around here have gone out of business, which makes it looks like it's not a viable source of income alone.

I really wouldn't recommend ANY MLM where you have to buy inventory--you just get on the same hamster wheel as in MK.

I think CM charges you to go to a party, too. I know I had to pay $10 to attend the one I did go to. I was like "WHAT???" She did give me a pair of scissors, but still... I was annoyed. I didn't need scissors, nor did I need to pay $10 to do something I didn't really want to do in the first place. Also, the guests have to bring their pics and do a scrapbook page with them. When I did it (prior to digital pics being big, so couldn't just go print off new copies), I was also annoyed at have to cut and glue my pictures to a scrapbook page, which ONLY fit in one of their seriously overpriced books, so I couldn't even use the thing later.

This gal that lives next to my inlaws is big into CM (as a rep). She does these crop nights, and they all pay a fee to go to that, too, but then come and share their stuff. It seems like a major money suck.

I actually love to do arts and crafts, so you'd think this was up my alley, but I agree with everyone else. Way overpriced and you can get the same or cuter stuff for much cheaper, even at Wally World now! My impression at the party was most of the women were as annoyed as I was. Same old MLM crap, different day... (no one booked off it, btw)

Leaving prints is newer. Its MLM but they really focus on retailing. Its like close to my heart but a but cheaper. theres no inventory and stuff is dropshipped and the sites free. I rep them to get a discount to make handmade cards and layouts and books.

I love scrapbooking and have been using Angel Company stamps and papers.  What I love about Angel Company is they are quite a bit less expensive than other stamp/scrap companies and they have fun "add on's" for each theme - like sparkly eyelets for a little girl page,  etc.  FULL DISCLOSURE - my sister sells it so I save an extra 20%!

Have I mentioned that I live a couple miles from the Stampin' Up headquarters?  *ducking*

Every time I drive by I'm reminded of it all... (MK)

My Neighbour does Stampin up....I actually own a fair bit of it......I do like the stamps but I also think that you could do just as well at Micheals or even Walmart.....A MLM is a MLM is a MLM....there isn't anyone of them designed to be good for the consultant/demonstrator etc..Only for the guy/gal at the top! AKA the owner of the company and maybe a few of his or her friends...

Good luck with your quest for information!

we are redoing all of the family photo albums have pix that are over 100 years old and just don't want to take a chance with the other stuff....have to say though...she's never heard from the lady she signed up under...not even a hello phone call...their discount program isn't so wow and shipping and handling fees are outrageous....

I had never heard of Stampin' Up, but I recently saw a minivan with a Stampin' Up sticker on it.

We have a rubber stamp store in our town that has been in business for years.  They used to be in a tiny storefront, but a couple of years ago moved to a huge location.  It is a mom and pop store and I think they must attract people from all over...and they have classes, etc.  Their window displays are always adorable, but I think the cheapest stamp you can buy is about $10.

I don't have time for arts and crafts, so I guess I am just astounded that a business selling rubber stamps and paper can stay in business for so long!

I get my stamps, ink and paper from Stampin' Up! for my cards.  I get disgusted everytime I go to the craft store because they never have what I'm looking for in stock.  I spent a month searching for a BLACK refill ink.  Black, basic black.  I also do workshops for the MOMS Club, it's $5 per person to cover the supplies and whoever "hosts" is free.  That word seems so dirty now, lol.  I started getting their stuff to do scrapbooks and I'm not sure what happened.  I just have so much fun making the cards and the Angel Policy they have makes it so much easier than dealing with other companies, I will give them that.  The other nice thing about cards is that you don't have to worry about whether or not things are acid free.  I save ribbons, string, buttons and whatever I think is "neat".

Oh, the catalog, this is so funny, it's not just a catalog, it's an "Idea Book".  That's why they offer it for sale.  I actually do hang on to them when I get them from people because I pull them out regularly to get ideas or quotes.  Sometimes a book is easier than the internet.

I do use Stampin Up products b/c they have cute stamps and after comparing prices at hobby lobby and michaels, their products are actually a cheaper way to go (esp. their papers and inks too)
However-- while I love their stuff, I wouldn't ever sell MLM anything. My good friend sells (sold it) and you know what? Even though she didn't have to carry an inventory or anything like MK, it still wasn't really worth her time. She got a lot of stuff at a bargain but I don't think she truly made profit. You'd have to do it a lot to make $$ at it---she shared this w/ me b/c she wondered if she should get into MK instead to get her products at cost, etc---I tactfully told her that that wouldn't be the best idea unless she really uses A LOT of product, head to toe, and wants to use only MK--otherwise, it's really not a good deal imo.
to leave me be---the Stampin up Idea book is good---I use it to get ideas for designing cards as well--- it has been useful. smiley It's a huge book---but it is packed w/ ideas.
I make cards mostly, and have done a tiny bit of scrapbooking--but I'll make 10 cards or so at a time to have on hand---
and you're right---they do allow you to sell items using their stamps if you use one of their stampin up hand made stamps on the back of it as the stamps are copywrited---
anyway they're worth checking out for good products.

BOP ~ you have really found them to be cheaper than Michael's?  I am always looking for good inexpensive supplies for my poem/gift crafts.  Right now I am hording the 40% off coupons from Michael's to get one thing at a time!!!  I don't know of any Stampin' Up people in my area though!!  crying
