I heard the name of these suppliments today.  Is this a MLM?  I thought I'd read about them on here or The Pink Truth board.  Anybody know anything about this company?

Just a quick glance at their website makes it look like a MLM to me.  Before this post, I have never heard of them before.

Yes, mannatech is a dirty MLM.

They sell sugar pills, and nothing else. They are quite LITERALLY sugar pills.

They were sued because they used a boy who died of a fatal genetic illness illegally in their marketing ploys. They circulated pictures of him, and told everyone he'd been "cured". When in reality he'd died. His mother was suing the pants off them, last I heard.

You can read lots about Mannatech and other crappy MLMs on the rickross cult education website. (LauraJ has the link to this site on her website, look under "links".

I just read your reply about mannatech.  I was afraid of that.  I know someone who is taking a boat load of those supplements.

Thanks for the info.

update:

Mannatech settled out of court with the boy's mother for $750,000

There are other lawsuits involving Mannatech, though, and a great place to read about them is www.Quackwatch.com

Their reps claim the sugar pills cure cancer and all kinds of other stuff - people have foregone traditional cancer treatments to take these bogus pills.

They also have a shady "charity", where they collect money to give their sugar pills to poor children in need of nutrition. I gotta find the link for that again. Mannatech is so awful - I really hate that company.
