i promise when I am feeling myself I will get into the homeschooling discussions some more. LOL

BUT.....

today my 2 1/2 year old son drank a bottle of cough syrup and I had to rush him to the ER. Apparently daddy didn't screw the cap back on the bottle very well, and while I was upstairs scrubbing a toilet, the little monster drank it like it was candy. (It *was* orange flavored)

I've never felt so scared. But as soon as we got to the hospital he started throwing up, so he got most of it out. Then I had to make him drink a carton of CHARCOAL. OMG that was the worst.

But the little bugger is still alive, and trying not to go to bed as I type this. SIGH. I'm feeling like I really dodged a bullet today.
 

That must have been scary.  I am thankful everything is ok.  No matter how cautious we are, kids can find a way to get into things.  You're a great mom PC.   

My nephew, now 26,  was a little stinker.  One of his major mishaps that we always talk about is the time he swallowed a Chuck E Cheese token.  Yeah, just popped it in his mouth and swallowed.  He was rushed to the hospital and while he was there, the entire staff, one by one, kept peeking in at him.  "We just had to see the kid that swallowed a Chuck E Cheese token" they said.   They were concerned but also very amused.

They couldn't make him throw that up - so they told us what to watch out for and to check his #2s until it passed.

Oh the things those kiddies can get into!

OMG that is horrible! And scary.  Sorry you had to make the trip to the ER but glad that everything turned out ok. 

Oh PC! I am sorry, I read this late!

OMG! That must have been scary! I can imagine how you felt. The other day my baby and I were playing and he was running away from me and he tripped and busted his lower lip, there was so much blood I thought I had to take him to the ER to get stitches, but after I cleaned it up it was so little, but you should've seen my hubby and I freaking out

Now, what you went through that is scary! I am glad everything turned out ok!

 

Been there!  my now 4 yr old dd did the same thing!  She was about 2 and I had her new prescription in my purse(still in the bag/stapled together everything) I thought child proof meant that it was CHILD PROOF!  That kid came walking up to me so sticky and with the bottle I freaked when I figured out what she had done!  She started getting real sleepy and lethargic on the way to the ER, I just knew they were going to call dfacs on me!  They gave her charcoal in suringes that she pucked up all the way home!  Did I mention that she is still into everything!  Caught her washing her hands with toothpaste the other day!   

Wow.  After reading the posts I feel better.  My child is normal!

She's 5 and not too long ago she got into the bottle of Motrin and drank what was left which was about a dose and a half.  I still got a bit panicky.

Our best was about 5 months back when she stuck a popcorn kernel in her ear and never told me.  It was in there for 2 days and when she would go to lay down she would complain that her ear was hurting.  Finally I got her in the light and was looking at it and she giggled and said, "I think there's popcorn in there."  My mind flashed to 2 nights earlier when she and my nephew were eating popcorn.  I looked and there it was shoved way back in her ear canal.

It scared me because it was causing her pain so we headed out to the ER and they got it out.

The popcorn story is hilarious!  So no worries.
