I'd be curious to know when you started, if it was for fun or to cover gray.    :hiya:

Well when I started, it was to highlight or enhance my color...but now since I am 90% gray and it costs so much to color every four weeks, and the contrast was so great, I decided to go "aunaturel".  I don't realy like it, but it is growing on me!

Redheads don't really turn gray...they just lose the pigment in their hair and it turns a taffy color...not exactly gray and not exactly blond!

I'm a brunette, and I color my hair to cover up the gray.  I began coloring my hair about 8 years ago.  It is real important to have a good hairdresser who specializes in color to get the best results.  Color is an art!

Oh yeah, I color my hair.  I did highlights when I was younger occassionaly but when nature picked up the "highlights", I had to cover those!

Yup!  I color for fun, since I have very few grays.  Right now, my hair is a bright auburn.  I love it!

My hair is naturally blonde, and I did a semi-permanent smurf blue in it when I was in high school...  I also did purple streaks after that washed out.

I used "real" dye for the 1st time last Jan.  My hair was (still is) pretty long, down to about my elbows, and I hadn't had bangs since Jr. High.  I must have got a wild hair (haha) cuz I dyed it bright/dark auburn and cut bangs and put layers just around the front to frame my face.  Turned out really good, but too bad it was one of those "28 washes" dyes.  I loved the color, you can completely change what colors look good on you w/ hairdye.  It lost it's full color after 2 weeks and left me kind of brassy.  Like very very strawberry blonde.
In Aug., went to an actual hairdresser  :o  and she used some stuff to strip the red out and I got very light blonde highlights over my reg. blonde, and dark navy blue underneath (from the neck hairline up a little) and layered the blonde over it so you see bits of navy peeking out underneath.  That's what I still have, but I keep clipping off bad ends and need to get a cut so we'll see what happens next.  Green sounds interesting!!

Started for fun when I was 17 with highlights from my 20's until my early 30's I was a red head. But now I went for my natural color which it's dark brown to cover the gray.  :tini:

What grey hair?   :teehee:

I first colored my hair four years ago this summer.  I'm naturally brown with reddish highlights and even though I love my hair color, I decided I wanted to experiment--well, I had my stylist do it.  We tried blond for six months and although I loved the color, it really didn't match with my dark eyebrows.  I'm all for looking as natural as possible so that was rather uncomfortable for me--especially with the roots.

I then went reddish with blond colored highlights as a "model" for a salon nearby.  It was really pretty but the dual coloring was just so time consuming and since I didn't have a job at the time I really couldn't afford the upkeep.

I then went to less blond highlights or reddish lowlights for a couple years.  The reddish was the most natural and my favorite.  Then I decided I was done with the blond and have been growing my hair out for another couple years...  My stylist finally cut off the last of the blond six months ago and it was really shocking to see how dark my hair actually is!!!

I've always liked having the red in my hair and I'm debating experimenting with red --are they high lights or low lights?  *shrugging shoulders*  My sweetie liked the "amber" color from a few years ago so perhaps this summer...  It really didn't look amber/red...  I think, though, that since the amber was used over blond it'll be completely different and he'll be surprised at the outcome.

That's my coloring story!

I started out just putting in highlights but as you touch up it becomes lighter and lighter. Last year I decided to go very dark blonde. My roots never showed so I must be at the natural color. I would love the guts (and coloring) to go black! I would end up very goth and at my age it won't work..
