I started to cover my gray.  It never really looked right b/c I can't afford to get it done at the hairdresser on a regular basis.  Finally I got the idea  from the boxes on the shelf of streaking it. It is black originally, so when I dye it, I do the roots first, then drag a comb or something through it to streak it out and leave it like that.  It never really gets to my original color and has red highlights in it which I really don't like, but oh well.  I am not that old, but am almost alllllll gray, so have to do something! blushing

Lipstick,  I'm with ya on that one.....before I highlighted it this time was the most au-natural it had been since youth and was a blah flat brown...

The highlights around the face seem to liven me up and add some Jazz!

I bleached my hair blond for 10 years. Everybody hated it but me and my best friend (who bleached her hair exactly the same as mine of course). I would let my roots get long and my friends would tease me. Even my boss.

So finally there came a time where I let them grow out (I just didn't notice my roots??), But I finally did notice one day how long they were so I just let them grow out completely. I sweat over a hot computer all day so my only friends now are the mailman and the UPS man, lol. I am so happy that part of my life is over.

And now that same best friend of mine is harassing me to put highlights and shine but I'm just so burnt out on all that. tongue Any advice? Am I forgetting that's it's worth it?

Advice??? Guess it depends on what colour your natural colour is!

I'm currently in the O'natural phase of my life....so I vote for limited colour changes!

Goldflower, you could dye the part that's not your natural color to match your long roots until it's all grown in, or cut it shorter and do the same so that most of it is all "real"... other than just continuing to wait those are the only other things I can think of.

It's all grown out and natural by now -- that's why I'm so scared to start coloring it again!  :csaw:

If you decide to try color, you could use the 28 day wash out type of hair color to see how you like it, of course it will be DARK, even the lightest of blonde in the wash out type (at least what I use) is still a medium brown  :ooops:

That's a good point. I never thought of that. But I would never go platinum blond again. I am considering adding highlights and shine, but am so scared. I just don't want to get back into keeping up roots again. That's all it is. Another thing, my hair is really really long and well..... my friend highly suggests I cut it. I know I should, it needs it badly. But the thought of going to a hair salon feels the same as going to the dentist. I've had nothing but bad experiences. But one of these months, I'm gunna get a lot of courage  :tini:  and go. I'll tell you girls all about it when I do. No, I'll tell yall before because I'll be so nervous, lol.   :teehee:
